The role:
Are you ready to lead the engineering delivery of some of the UK’s most complex and high-value Transmission mega-projects? As Lead Engineering Manager, you’ll oversee the full project lifecycle for programmes within our Offshore Delivery Directorate, ensuring technical excellence, safety, and innovation across a portfolio valued up to approximately £6bn. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of energy infrastructure and make a real impact on the transition to net zero.
We have several positions available to cover a range of project programmes between two engineering departments: Converter Stations, and Cable Systems.
You will:
- Lead multi-disciplinary engineering teams to deliver safe, compliant, and cost-effective solutions for major infrastructure programmes.
- Oversee technical governance, quality assurance, and safety in design, embedding best practice and regulatory compliance throughout each projects’ lifecycle.
- Drive innovation and value engineering, implementing lessons learned and standardised design practices to enhance performance and reduce costs.
- Manage resource planning, team development & wellbeing, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder engagement across all levels.
- Ensure critical engineering and quality risks are identified and mitigated, supporting procurement strategy and commercial negotiations to deliver successful project outcomes.
You have:
- Chartered Engineer status or equivalent experience and a degree in a relevant engineering discipline, with significant experience leading large, complex engineering and construction projects.
- Deep knowledge of Transmission Owner statutory, regulatory, and technical requirements, including safety and quality standards.
- Proven ability to lead other leaders and multi-disciplinary teams, and budgets.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience in value engineering, risk management, and delivering whole-life value for large capital projects.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, with a collaborative approach and a commitment to fostering diversity, inclusion, and innovation.
