Base Location: Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness or Perth

The base location will be either Aberdeen, Glasgow, Inverness or Perth however the role may require travel to project and office locations as and when required.

Salary: £50,100 – £75,100 + car /car allowance + performance-related bonus+ a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family.

The role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estimator/Cost Engineer to join our Team supporting the Procurement and Commercial activities for the Networks Transmission business.

are developing a number of bespoke projects including those relating to future Island and Offshore Connections and large onshore reinforcement capital expenditure projects. These include electrical substation infrastructure, overhead lines, underground cable and associated civils in addition to the ever expanding HVDC technology.

You will

– Provide quality cost and estimating knowledge for use in building up project estimates and have experience benchmarking and using cost metrics and historic analysis.

– Be able to present and speak to senior management and stakeholders because all work will be subject to review by peers, internal governance and by the regulators, Ofgem.

– Take a lead role in the development of cost and volume reporting including support with any new digital cost / data analysis / estimating solutions.

– Work with a multi-skilled team consisting of Project Managers, Engineers and Designers to develop and increase the accuracy of the project cost estimate.

– You will support the development of future estimating rates through the detailed analysis of live supply chain data and tender returns.

You have

– Experience in estimating large, complex, multi discipline construction/utility works.

– Strong commercial and technical acumen with well-developed interpersonal, problem-solving and communication skills with demonstrable experience in cost and asset data collection and analysis.

– Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel is essential for managing data, generating reports, and supporting team decision-making.

– Ability to understand electrical and general arrangement drawings; a basic understanding of electrical systems and/or infrastructure would be beneficial.

– Ability to work to tight deadlines, under pressure whilst still delivering quality output and prioritise requirements where necessary. A keen eye to detail is a must as well as the ability to work methodically through a demanding workload.
