Base Location: Reading, Manchester, Glasgow, Perth, Cardiff, London. You'll be expected to spend a minimum of 50% of your working week in an SSE location. Make low carbon solutions easier, smarter and more affordable for business customers. In this senior leadership role, you will shape and scale behind the meter energy solutions across Great Britain, bringing together strategy, route to market, partnerships and delivery. You will lead a portfolio spanning solar, storage and flexibility, translating customer needs into compelling propositions and ensuring they land well commercially and operationally. You will work closely with colleagues across the wider business to turn opportunities into measurable outcomes for customers and the organisation.
About The Role- Strategic route‑to‑market leadership: Lead the strategy and route to market for behind‑the‑meter and wider low‑carbon solutions for business customers across Great Britain, with accountability for delivering agreed growth targets.
- Growth opportunity development: Identify, assess and prioritise growth opportunities, turning market insight into clear commercial plans, investable propositions and scalable revenue streams.
- Partnerships and delivery models: Build and maintain high‑impact internal and external partnerships to enable delivery, including frameworks and third‑party delivery models that support profitable growth.
- Portfolio and P&L ownership: Own P&L performance across the portfolio, with full accountability for financial outcomes, governance, risk management and operational delivery.
- Senior customer engagement: Lead strategic customer engagement and major negotiations, representing the business with credibility and clarity at executive level to secure long‑term commercial value.
- Proven strategic leadership experience within a customer solutions, sales, commercial or energy services environment, including accountability for P&L performance and evidence of delivering profitable growth.
- Strong commercial understanding of low‑carbon solutions such as solar, battery storage and demand side flexibility, including knowledge of commercial drivers, risk management and end‑to‑end delivery.
- Deep knowledge of GB energy markets and the policy landscape, with the ability to assess market trends, regulatory change and competitive dynamics and translate these into commercially viable opportunities.
- Demonstrated commercial drive and ambition, with a track record of setting challenging goals, maintaining pace, and improving business performance through decisive leadership.
- Inclusive, values‑led people leadership capability, with strong communication skills and experience influencing senior stakeholders.
