  • Data Engineering & Pipeline Development - Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines integrating multiple internal and external data sources - Optimise data workflows for performance, cost, and scalability - Ensure data quality, integrity, and consistency across systems - Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures and data inconsistencies
  • Internal Automation & DataOps - Automate operational processes using scripting, APIs, and Infrastructure as Code - Implement DataOps practices, including CI/CD for data pipelines and workflows - Reduce manual reporting and operational overhead through automation - Build reusable frameworks for internal data tooling
  • Monitoring, Observability & Incident Response - Implement monitoring and alerting for data pipelines, data freshness, and reporting systems - Define SLIs/SLOs for data availability, latency, and accuracy - Lead incident response and root cause analysis for data-related issues - Establish observability standards across data and platform systems - Join the out-of-hours on-call Rota (typically once every 3-4 weeks) once suitably skilled and appropriately trained.
  • Analytics & Reporting Enablement - Develop and maintain dashboards and reporting solutions (e.g., Power BI or similar tools) - Partner with stakeholders to translate business needs into data solutions - Enable self-service analytics and improve data accessibility - Deliver actionable insights to support decision-making
  • Infrastructure & Scalability - Support and optimise cloud-based data infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP) - Implement scalable storage, compute, and orchestration solutions - Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure systems produce reliable data
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration - Act as a bridge between Engineering, Operations, and Business teams - Promote best practices across SRE, DevOps, and Data Engineering - Contribute to a culture of automation, reliability, and continuous improvement
