What You Will Get To Do:

  • Responsible for performing the initial review of periodic deliverables through performance of control processes, trial balance preparation and analytical analysis.
  • The primary instrument scope of investments is limited partnership and other alternative investments but may also include fixed income securities (including MBS, ABS), equities, syndicated bank loans, short term investments, and derivatives.
  • Perform the processing, reconciliation, accounting and reporting functions for limited partnerships and other alternative investments including application of STAT and GAAP equity methods and GAAP cost method of accounting for limited partnerships.
  • Perform reconciliations of cash, cash adjusted carrying values to LP capital balance and unfunded commitment.
  • Prepare and perform controls on monthly general ledgers for US GAAP, US STAT, and IFRS, as required.
  • Prepare and reconcile month end client reporting packages.
  • Capture and review non-financial data elements germane to LP regulatory reporting, e.g. ownership percentage, zip codes, etc.
  • Prepare and perform controls on quarterly and annual regulatory reports including Schedule BA.
  • Perform critical self-review of work product prior to submission to client and/or supervisor.
  • Identify inefficiencies in the current production processes and make recommendations on how to fix them.
  • Address ad hoc inquiries and assist on projects.
  • Document and cross-train processes.
  • Liaise with clients and internal contacts on a day to day basis.

What You Will Bring:

  • Understanding of accounting rules for alternative investments including LPs under US GAAP STAT, and IFRS.
  • Robust understanding of STAT and GAAP equity methods and GAAP cost method of accounting for limited partnerships.
  • Working knowledge of other investment types typically utilized by insurance companies.
  • Minimum of a BS degree in accounting.
  • CPA preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in alternatives investment accounting or equivalent work experience in the insurance industry.
  • Proven ability to meet daily and monthly deliverables.
  • Ability to communicate professionally with internal and external contacts.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to remain highly organized in a deadline driven environment while maintaining strict attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite, with advanced working knowledge of Excel.
