About the Client Our client is a leading civil engineering contractor, with over 70 years of experience delivering large-scale civils and infrastructure projects across the UK. The business has been involved in some of the UK's most significant infrastructure schemes. The successful candidate will join the team supporting a major infrastructure project in Essex, providing an excellent opportunity to work within a technically challenging and fast-paced earthworks environment. About the Role Our client are currently seeking an experienced SHE Advisor to join the team in Essex The successful candidate will provide day-to-day Safety, Health and Environmental support across a major infrastructure and earthworks project, working closely with site management, plant and operational teams, subcontractors and the wider project team. This is a hands-on site-based position, ideal for a SHE professional with experience within earthworks, civils, infrastructure, highways or heavy plant environments. Key Responsibilities * Provide day-to-day SHE advice, guidance and support to site and operational teams. * Carry out regular site inspections, audits and safety tours. * Monitor compliance with company and project SHE procedures and requirements. * Review RAMS, risk assessments, method statements and safe systems of work. * Support the management of risks associated with heavy plant, vehicles and people/plant interfaces. * Assist with the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses and environmental events. * Monitor and manage subcontractor SHE performance. * Deliver and support inductions, toolbox talks and SHE briefings. * Identify hazards and ensure appropriate corrective and preventative actions are implemented. * Maintain accurate SHE records, reports and documentation. * Support environmental controls relating to earthworks, waste, pollution prevention and material management. * Assist with monitoring SHE KPIs and performance trends. * Attend SHE and project meetings, providing updates on key risks and performance. * Work closely with Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, Plant Managers and operatives to promote a strong SHE culture. * Support the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives across the project. * Ensure compliance with relevant UK Health & Safety and Environmental legislation. * Promote the company's commitment to safe and sustainable earthmoving. Requirements * NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent H&S qualification. * Previous experience working in a construction, civils, earthworks, infrastructure or heavy plant environment. * Strong understanding of UK Health & Safety legislation. * Experience with RAMS, risk assessments, inspections, audits and incident investigations. * Experience working around heavy plant, vehicles and construction operations. * Understanding of environmental management within a construction or infrastructure environment. * Experience monitoring and managing subcontractor SHE compliance. * Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices. * Proactive approach to SHE with a strong focus on continuous improvement. * Good organisational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities. * CSCS and relevant construction site experience. * IOSH membership would be advantageous. * Experience on major infrastructure projects such as HS2, highways, rail, utilities or large-scale earthworks would be highly beneficial
