About the Client We are currently recruiting for an experienced H&S Advisor to join the Health & Safety team of a well-established and growing construction and infrastructure group.

The business operates across a diverse range of sectors, including construction, civil engineering, highways, demolition, aggregates, waste management, transport and logistics, providing a varied and challenging working environment for an experienced H&S professional.

About the Role As H&S Advisor, you will provide practical Health & Safety support and guidance across the business, working closely with operational teams and management to maintain high standards and promote a positive safety culture.

This is a varied role with responsibility for supporting audits, inspections, accident investigations, risk assessments, RAMS and the ongoing development of H&S policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Health & Safety advice and support across the business and operational sites.
  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and H&S assessments.
  • Support and, where appropriate, lead accident and incident investigations.
  • Review risk assessments, method statements, procedures and other H&S documentation.
  • Coordinate and maintain the internal H&S audit programme.
  • Support external audits and ensure actions are followed through to completion.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of H&S policies, procedures and systems.
  • Monitor H&S performance, KPIs and compliance across the business.
  • Identify areas for improvement and support initiatives to continually improve H&S standards.
  • Promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture across all levels of the organisation.
  • Provide guidance and support to managers, supervisors and operational teams.

Requirements

  • NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety – essential.
  • Previous experience working within a Health & Safety role.
  • Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and best practice.
  • Experience conducting inspections, audits and accident investigations.
  • Good understanding of risk assessments and method statements.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to engage with employees at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Construction, civil engineering, transport, aggregates, quarrying or waste/recycling experience would be advantageous but is not essential.
