Our client delivers projects across multiple sectors including residential, student accommodation, commercial, education, healthcare, custodial and infrastructure. The company operates nationally.

About the Role

Our client is seeking an experienced Health & Safety Advisor to support growing operations across London and South East. The successful candidate will play a key role in promoting a positive safety culture across multiple construction sites, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, company procedures and industry best practice. Working closely with operational teams, subcontractors and clients, you will provide proactive advice and support to drive continuous improvement in health, safety and environmental performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct regular site inspections, audits and safety tours across active projects.
  • Monitor compliance with company policies, risk assessments, method statements and statutory requirements.
  • Provide practical health and safety guidance to site management teams, supervisors and subcontractors.
  • Support project teams in the preparation, review and implementation of RAMS.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and targeted safety training.
  • Monitor and report on key HSE performance indicators.
  • Assist with the development and review of HSE procedures, policies and management systems.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant UK legislation, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974, CDM Regulations 2015 and associated regulations.
  • Promote environmental awareness and support sustainability initiatives across projects.
  • Liaise with clients, principal contractors and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Support internal and external audits, accreditation requirements and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate records and produce detailed inspection and investigation reports.

Candidate Requirements

Essential

  • NEBOSH General Certificate or NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
  • Previous experience in a Health & Safety role within construction, civil engineering, RC frame, groundwork or structural environments.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and CDM 2015 requirements.
  • Experience conducting site audits, inspections and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to influence and engage teams at all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across the region.

Desirable

  • Membership of Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (TechIOSH or GradIOSH).
  • Experience within reinforced concrete frame construction, shell and core or civil engineering projects.
  • Environmental qualification such as IEMA Foundation Certificate.
  • Mental Health First Aider qualification.
  • Temporary works or lifting operations awareness.
