SSA are recruiting on behalf of a leading Civil Engineering contractor delivering some of the UK's largest infrastructure projects. The company has established an excellent reputation for safely delivering complex schemes across rail, highways, utilities and heavy civil engineering sectors, with a strong focus on employee development, innovation and operational excellence. Due to continued growth, they are seeking a Health & Safety Advisor to support the delivery of a major infrastructure project based in Aylesbury.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the operational teams in maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance across site. This is a site-based position where you'll work closely with project managers, engineers and subcontractors, providing practical advice and promoting a proactive safety culture throughout the project.
Responsibilities:
- Provide competent Health & Safety advice and guidance to site management and operational teams.
- Carry out regular site inspections, audits and behavioural safety observations, ensuring compliance with company procedures and legislation.
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture through coaching, engagement and visible leadership on site.
- Assist with the preparation and review of Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS).
- Support the investigation of accidents, incidents and near misses, identifying root causes and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Deliver site inductions, toolbox talks and other Health & Safety briefings.
- Monitor subcontractor performance and ensure compliance with site rules and Health & Safety standards.
- Maintain accurate Health & Safety records, reports and KPI data.
- Ensure compliance with CDM Regulations, company procedures and current Health & Safety legislation.
- Work closely with the project team to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and best practice.
Requirements:
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) as a minimum.
- Previous experience working as a Health & Safety Advisor within Civil Engineering, Infrastructure or Construction.
- Good working knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation and CDM Regulations.
- Experience undertaking site inspections, audits and incident investigations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with site teams and subcontractors.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- IOSH Membership or working towards (desirable).
- Experience working on large infrastructure or rail projects would be advantageous.
