SSA are working on behalf of our client, a leading design & build contractor delivering complex projects across the industrial, manufacturing, food, pharmaceutical and logistics sectors throughout the UK.

With a strong reputation for delivering technically challenging schemes, the business is committed to driving sustainability across its operations and is looking to expand its Environmental & Sustainability team with the appointment of two Project Sustainability Leads.

The Role An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Project Sustainability Lead to join the team on major construction projects based around the Bristol, Bridgwater and Trowbridge area.

Reporting into the Sustainability team, you will provide technical sustainability support to project teams, ensuring environmental compliance, driving best practice and helping projects achieve their sustainability and certification objectives.

You will work closely with clients, consultants and operational teams to embed sustainability throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities Act as the sustainability lead for assigned construction projects.

Provide technical advice on environmental compliance and sustainable construction practices.

Support the delivery of project sustainability strategies and business ESG objectives.

Carry out regular site inspections and environmental audits.

Prepare and maintain environmental documentation, including Construction Environmental Management Plans (CEMPs) and Pollution Incident Response Plans.

Support projects in achieving environmental certifications such as BREEAM and LEED.

Monitor project sustainability performance and provide regular reporting to project teams.

Engage with clients, consultants and the supply chain to ensure sustainability requirements are achieved.

Support environmental planning conditions and project compliance obligations.

Promote continuous improvement and sustainability best practice across multiple projects.

Requirements Essential Experience within a Sustainability, Environmental or ESG role in the construction industry.

Knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainable construction practices.

Experience supporting projects through environmental certification schemes such as BREEAM, LEED or WELL.

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Degree (or equivalent) in Environmental, Sustainability or a related discipline.

Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable IEMA membership (or working towards).

BREEAM Accredited Professional and/or LEED Accredited Professional.

ISO 14001 Internal Auditor qualification.

Experience producing environmental management documentation.

CSCS Card.
