SRT is recruiting for an IT Network Engineer to work within the UK Project Support Team. You will be at the forefront of working on our Networking capabilities along with supporting our project teams both in the UK and internationally for the build and national integration of our systems. These projects are highly progressive in their capabilities.

This role is ideal for a talented and ambitious IT Network Engineer where you will be engaged with designing, implementing, and maintaining computer networks, ensuring reliable and secure communication and data transfer. You will troubleshoot network issues, optimise performance, and implement security measures to protect our data and systems. The IT Network Engineer will need to have a strong understanding of network infrastructure and hardware.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and Implementation
  • Planning and designing network infrastructure for local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs)
  • Configuring and testing network hardware and software
  • Implementing new network technologies and solutions
  • Maintenance and Support
    • Monitoring network performance and identifying areas for improvement
    • Troubleshooting and resolving network issues, including hardware, software, and connectivity problems
    • Providing technical support to users and colleagues
  • Security
    • Implementing and maintaining security measures, such as firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls
    • Staying up-to-date on the latest security threats and vulnerabilities
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant security standards and regulations
  • Collaboration
    • Working with other IT professionals, including network architects, system administrators, and security specialists
    • Communicating technical information clearly and concisely
    • Documenting network configurations and procedures
    • Engaging with the wider SRT and Vendor teams, driving the timely resolution of technical gaps and issues
    • Proactively working on your own or as part of an Engineering team in-field
    • Assisting in UK and International deployments and work streams
    Requirements:
    • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in an Engineering related discipline is highly desirable, however extensive experience in mixed software engineering and IT projects is essential
    • Strong Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge and proficiency in various technologies, including network infrastructure and transport layers
    • Problem-Solving Skills: Skilled at analysing and resolving complex technical challenges
    • Communication and Collaboration: Effective communication and teamwork are crucial
    • Expert knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.)
    • Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, and VPNs
    • Familiarity with network security technologies
    • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
