Role Overview of our Global Engineering Lead
Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, the Global Engineering Lead will act as the primary coordination point between the Project Engineering function, SRT's in-country engineering teams and external in-country installation and engineering partners. The role will be based within a key regional location, such as the Middle East, and will provide a mobile and flexible engineering presence across SRT's global programmes, travelling to project locations where additional engineering leadership, coordination or support is required. The Global Engineering Lead will work closely with the Project Engineering Manager to ensure that field activities are appropriately planned, resourced, coordinated and executed, providing visibility of progress, risks, issues and engineering requirements across all active deployments. The role will operate across multiple countries and projects and will be required to balance the needs of individual programmes with the wider priorities of the Project Engineering function. The role of Global Engineering Lead is a role where you will be expected to spend considerable time outside of the UK or live ideally in the Middle East, this is an overseas role across our numerous and exciting projects.
Responsibilities - Global Engineering Lead - not exhaustive:
- Provide global coordination and leadership of in-country field engineering activities, ensuring installation, integration, testing and commissioning activities are effectively planned and executed.
- Act as the primary operational interface between the Project Engineering Manager and in-country engineering teams, providing regular visibility of field activities, progress, risks, resource requirements and issues.
- Coordinate the activities of SRT's in-country Field Engineers, Installation Engineers and external engineering and installation partners, ensuring that responsibilities, priorities and deliverables are clearly understood.
- Work closely with Project Engineers and Principal Architect to ensure that designs and engineering packages are field-ready, practical to install and aligned with the realities of the deployment environment.
- Provide early feedback from the field to Project Engineering, identifying design issues, installation constraints, integration challenges and opportunities for improvement before they impact project delivery.
- Support the Project Engineering Manager to coordinate the mobilisation of engineering resources to support installation, integration and commissioning activities across multiple countries and projects.
- Ensure that in-country teams and partners are working to agreed SRT engineering standards, installation methodologies, quality requirements and project processes.
- Provide technical and operational leadership during complex installation, integration and commissioning activities, escalating significant technical, resource or programme issues to the Project Engineering Manager.
- Provide a visible SRT engineering presence in key deployment regions and travel internationally where required to support critical projects, resolve issues or provide additional engineering leadership.
- Act as a senior escalation point for field engineering and deployment issues, ensuring that problems are resolved efficiently and do not unnecessarily impact project delivery.
Requirements - Global Engineering Lead - not exhaustive:
- Significant experience in field engineering, installation, integration and commissioning within complex technical environments - defence, maritime, telecoms, infrastructure or similar environments would prove highly beneficial.
- Proven experience coordinating multi-disciplinary engineering teams across multiple locations or countries.
- Experience working with local engineering partners, subcontractors and installation organisations.
- Strong understanding of the transition from engineering design into field deployment.
- Strong project and operational coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple concurrent deployments and competing priorities.
- Ability to understand engineering designs sufficiently to identify installation, integration and commissioning challenges, with the understanding of installation methodologies, site readiness and commissioning processes.
- Ability to influence and coordinate teams without direct line-management authority.
- Ability to operate effectively across different cultures, countries and working environments.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally at short notice where required.
- Strong understanding of engineering quality, HSE and technical compliance requirements.
- Ability to provide clear, concise reporting of progress, risks, issues and resource requirements to senior management.
