SRT are recruiting for an Electrical Design Engineer to work with us in a contract role. You will work along with the Project Engineering Team for the design and build of the national integration of our systems. Please note: this is a contract role and IR35 status is yet to be determined, but we are open to applications to those who wish to work in this contract role In the role of Electrical Design Engineer, you will provide schematics for all aspects of the MDA \”Maritime Domain Awareness\” projects, including hub, console, video screen power and data requirements and routing, as well as non-MDA aspects such as CCTV, access control, telephony etc etc. You will work with the wider Project Engineering Team to turn these into working documents that can be shared with the civil engineers, customers and interior designers so we can turn them into reality. We will deliver safe and suitable designs and modifications in line with the various project objectives. You will ensure that the designs are not only practical but also compliant with industry regulations and company standards. SRT Marine Systems plc runs a hybrid working model, therefore, the role of CAD Design Engineer commutable from such places as Bristol, Malvern, Tewkesbury, Newport, Filton, Gloucester, Cheltenham, Swindon, Reading, Stroud, Worcester, Cardiff, Swansea, Bridgend, Cwmbran, Bath, Hereford or further afield in the UK. Key Responsibilities – Electrical Design Engineer * Create Schematic Diagrams and Technical Drawings * Use appropriate design software to develop detailed plans and design for our projects * Understand project requirements and ensure designs and drawings meet quality standards and technical specifications * Identifying and resolving design issues and inaccuracies * Present designs; explaining technical details, and respond to client inquiries * Keep up-to-date of new project design requirements and industry regulations * Adhere to budget and timeline estimates, and provide technical advice on suitable materials for projects * Prepare documentation for design projects, ensuring all necessary files and records are maintained accurately * Contribute to the development and updating of the design aids and computer programmes and assist in the analysis of new design concepts Experience – Electrical Design Engineer * A Degree in Engineering or a related field would prove highly beneficial (not essential), but relevant experience is essential for this contract role * Proficient in appropriate design software * Knowledge of Engineering Principles: A solid understanding of electrical (essential), mechanical and other relevant engineering principles * Attention to Detail and Accuracy: The ability to create and review precise and accurate technical schematics * Communication and Collaboration Skills: Strong ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary and multinational teams * Problem-Solving Skills: The ability to identify and resolve design issues and inaccuracies Strong, experience in the civil engineering industry, design of civil or geotechnical engineering works would be advantageous, but not essential * Experience of the electrical design for data centres, control rooms, communication towers etc. – highly beneficial * Experience of international design knowledge – highly beneficial * IT Literate (Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, CAD) The role of Electrical Design Engineer may require occasional international travel in support of our projects SRT Marine Systems plc are an equal opportunity employer.
