About the Role / Responsibilities
The SVQ Assessor/Internal Verifier plays a key role in guiding and supporting candidates as they work towards achieving their Scottish Vocational Qualifications (SVQs). This involves assessing candidates’ performance in the workplace, identifying strengths and development needs, and ensuring they meet the standards required for qualification. The Assessor provides ongoing, constructive feedback and contributes to the continuous improvement of training quality across the organisation. The role also includes internal verification and qualification approval responsibilities in line with Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) requirements. The Internal Verifier is responsible for supporting assessors, monitoring their assessment practices, and ensuring the consistency and integrity of qualifications within their subject areas.
We are seeking applicants who hold the relevant Assessor and Assessor/Internal Verifier awards for SVQ Level 2, 3, 4 and CSLM.
Knowledge and Qualifications
- Minimum qualification of HNC and/or SVQ Level 3 in Health and Social Care or a related health discipline
- Proficient in ICT, with relevant experience
- Full, clean driving licence and access to a vehicle
- Holds a recognised Assessor qualification - D32/33, A1, or L&D9i
- Knowledge of Scottish laws and care standards
- Knowledge and understanding of Scottish regulatory bodies
- Competent in the specific SVQ requirements used in Scotland
- D34/V1/L&D911 – Verifier Award
Experience
- At least 3 years of experience working in a care or health-related setting
- Occupational competency and relevant qualifications in the SVQ’s in which you will be delivering
- Knowledge of SQA relevant requirements and SSSC
- An in-depth knowledge of good practice in health and social care
Abilities / Skills
- Strong interpersonal skills with excellent verbal and written communication abilities
- Proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
- Flexible team player with a collaborative approach
- Skilled in maintaining accurate and up-to-date records
- Highly organised with effective time management skills
- Capable of working independently with a proactive, solution-focused mindset
- Professional and adaptable attitude, with a strong commitment to continuous professional development (CPD)
