As a leading Specialist Construction Products Recruiter, SRS Recruitment Solutions are retained on a sole agency basis by a leading Specialist Distributor of Timber and Timber Products who, due to continued success, are seeking to recruit a Sales & Marketing Director. Our client is an award-winning, highly regarded distributor of Timber and Timber Products with almost 100 years of experience in supplying the Construction Sector, OEMs, Fit Out Contractors, Timber Merchants, Builders Merchants, and Specialist End Users centred around the North West of England with 7 stand-alone operations and circa 130 employees.
Role Overview
Our client is seeking an experienced and results-driven Sales and Marketing Director to lead their commercial strategy in the timber industry. This role is critical in driving revenue growth, market share, and brand positioning across all areas of business. The ideal candidate will bring deep industry knowledge, strategic thinking, and proven leadership in building high-performing sales and marketing teams. You should also, ideally, be within commutable distance of the North West of England area.
Key Responsibilities
- Sales Leadership & Strategy: Develop and implement a cohesive, high-performance sales strategy to drive revenue growth across all product types and ranges. Set ambitious yet achievable targets, ensuring they are consistently met or exceeded through structured team leadership and effective execution. Monitor market trends and competitor activity to stay ahead of the curve and identify new sales opportunities. Identify and pursue new business opportunities across public and private sector clients. Build and maintain relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders. Lead, manage, develop, and mentor the sales team, ensuring high performance and accountability. Oversee the preparation of bids, tenders, and contract negotiations.
- Marketing & Brand Development: Develop and implement an integrated marketing strategy to position the company as a market leader. Oversee the creation of marketing campaigns, digital content, PR initiatives, and promotional events. Collaborate with operational teams to showcase completed projects and capabilities. Drive brand awareness and lead generation through both online and offline channels. Manage marketing budgets and ROI analysis for all marketing activities.
- Market Intelligence & Strategy: Conduct market research and competitor analysis to identify opportunities and threats. Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and customer needs to adapt business development efforts. Support product development through identified market needs, customer feedback, and market insights.
Key Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is desirable.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in sales and marketing roles within the timber or construction industry.
- Strong understanding of the market, including negotiation, tendering, and client relationship management.
- Proven track record of achieving sales targets and driving marketing ROI.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
