The Role
As HEAD OF MAJOR ACCOUNTS, you will be responsible for leading and developing the external and internal sales team along with developing relationships with key target customers including Plumbing & Heating Merchants, National and Independent Builders Merchants, Merchant Buying Groups, DIY Groups, Paint and Decorating Specialist Suppliers, Electrical Wholesalers, Specialist Distributors, OEMs etc. The role will be home-based and will require extensive travel throughout the United Kingdom.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and implement national sales strategies, plans, and tactics to achieve overall sales goals.
- Team Leadership: Manage and support regional sales managers and internal sales teams, providing coaching and guidance to improve performance.
- Sales Targets & Performance: Set and monitor sales targets, key performance indicators (KPIs), and forecasts to track progress and drive revenue.
- Customer Relationships: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key customers, negotiating and closing complex deals to foster profitability.
- Market Analysis: Research and identify new market opportunities, analyse market trends, and monitor competitive offerings to stay ahead.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with marketing, product development, and other departments to ensure brand consistency and effective product promotion.
- Recruitment & Training: Lead the recruitment, hiring, and training of new sales staff to build a high-performing team.
