Regular engagement across Architecture & Design, Design and Build, Fit Out, Flooring Contractor, specialist installer, end user and key account channels will form an important part of the remit.
Job Description Are you a high performing commercial sales professional with a strong understanding of the flooring marketplace, an established network across the commercial interiors sector and a proven ability to develop relationships, generate new business and convert project opportunities?
We are partnered with a globally respected manufacturer of premium commercial flooring solutions, recognised internationally for combining distinctive design, sustainability, innovation, technical performance and long-term product quality.
The business has an established position within the UK commercial flooring market, and its solutions are specified across workplace, hospitality, education, healthcare, retail and wider commercial interior environments.
This represents an opportunity to join a highly respected, design-led company with strong market credibility, an established customer base and significant further growth potential across an important regional territory.
The successful individual will operate across the complete commercial flooring ecosystem, developing business with Architects, Interior Designers, Design and Build firms, Fit Out contractors, Flooring Contractors, specialist installers, end users and strategic key accounts.
This is not simply an account maintenance role.
The expectation is to build on an established regional platform, protect and develop existing relationships, identify new commercial opportunities and increase market share across multiple routes to market.
The Role This is a commercially focused Regional Sales Manager position with responsibility for developing the company’s presence, relationships and revenue across an established and strategically important territory.
The role combines specification development, contractor engagement, key account management, project tracking and proactive new business development.
You will need to understand how commercial flooring projects develop from early design and specification through contractor engagement, procurement, negotiation and final conversion.
You will take ownership of the territory, customer base, pipeline and commercial performance, operating with a high degree of autonomy while collaborating closely with the wider team.
There is an established customer platform from which to work, but the expectation will be to continue developing the territory, strengthen existing relationships and identify new areas of sustainable commercial growth.
You will represent an extensive portfolio of Modular Carpet, LVT and Entrance Flooring solutions, positioning the business through design, sustainability, technical performance, service and commercial value rather than competing predominantly on price.
Responsibilities
- Develop and grow commercial sales across the regional territory, increasing both revenue and market share
- Manage, retain and expand existing key accounts while identifying additional commercial potential within the customer base
- Identify, develop and convert new commercial opportunities across the territory
- Build strong long-term relationships with Architects, Interior Designers, Design and Build firms, Fit Out contractors, Flooring Contractors, specialist installers, end users and other relevant project stakeholders
- Strengthening brand presence and specification influence across the Architecture & Design community
- Develop relationships throughout the complete commercial flooring route to market and maintain influence as projects progress
- Influence product selection and specification through a clear understanding of customer, design, technical and project requirements
- Track opportunities from initial project identification through specification, contractor engagement, procurement, negotiation and final conversion
- Develop new business while maximising the potential of established relationships and inherited accounts
- Create and execute strategic regional sales plans focused on measurable and sustainable commercial growth
- Understand individual market segments and identify where additional penetration and market share can be achieved
- Manage regional pipeline, forecasting, reporting and commercial performance with accuracy and discipline
- Deliver client presentations, product demonstrations, Lunch and Learn sessions and CPDs
- Representing the company professionally at customer meetings, industry events, launches and networking activity
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the wider business to protect specifications, coordinate opportunities and maximise successful project conversion
- Maintain consistently high standards of service across both internal and external stakeholders Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required The strongest candidates are likely to already be operating successfully within the commercial flooring marketplace and should be based within practical reach of Central London and the wider territory.
Candidates who have previously built substantial commercial flooring experience before moving into a closely related commercial interiors sector may also be considered, provided they retain the market understanding, route to market knowledge and relevant relationships required to transition back successfully.
Exceptional candidates from adjacent commercial interior product sectors may be considered where their customer network, project exposure and commercial experience closely mirror the flooring ecosystem, although current or meaningful previous flooring experience is strongly preferred.
Essential experience and attributes include
- A strong and established track record in commercial flooring sales, ideally gained within a recognised manufacturer, supplier, distributor or other relevant flooring business
- Meaningful experience of regional sales, key account management and proactive new business development
- An existing and relevant network across Architects, Interior Designers, Design and Build firms, Fit Out contractors, Flooring Contractors, specialist installers and commercial end users
- A strong understanding of commercial flooring routes to market, project cycles, procurement processes and contractual decision making
- Experience influencing specification and product selection within design led and technically led project environments
- Demonstrated ability to identify, track and convert opportunities from early project stage to commercial order
- A proven ability to develop existing accounts while creating new customer and project opportunities
- Experience developing strategic territory plans, measurable objectives, forecasting and pipeline reporting
- Strong commercial awareness, negotiation capability and a proactive business development mindset
- Excellent communication, presentation, networking and relationship building skills
- The confidence and credibility to engage with specification, procurement, contractor and senior commercial stakeholders
- High levels of personal motivation, professionalism, accountability and commercial maturity
- The ability to operate autonomously while contributing positively within a collaborative team environment
- A genuine appreciation for premium, design led and sustainable commercial flooring solutions
- Full UK driving license The Person This opportunity will particularly suit someone who already understands the flooring marketplace and wants to take ownership of a significant regional territory with an established and highly credible manufacturer.
You are likely to be commercially ambitious, relationship focused and equally comfortable operating across specification, contractor, key account and end user environments.
You understand that successful commercial flooring sales require more than generating a specification.
You recognise the importance of maintaining influence throughout the full project journey, from initial design discussions and product selection through contractor engagement, procurement, negotiation and final order conversion.
You will be comfortable developing relationships with Architects and Interior Designers while equally confident dealing with Flooring Contractors, Fit Out businesses, specialist installers, procurement professionals and commercial end users.
You will have the confidence to protect existing business while actively pursuing new commercial opportunities, and you will be naturally well networked, commercially curious and capable of identifying where untapped opportunities exist within your territory.
You will take pride in representing a premium global business and understand the importance of design, sustainability, technical performance and customer service while remaining commercially focused on revenue, pipeline growth and market share.
What Success Looks Like Success in this role will come from combining the strength of an established market position with continued proactive commercial development across the territory.
The successful individual will protect and grow established relationships, strengthen engagement across key customer groups, identify new specification and contractor opportunities, improve project visibility and build a sustainable pipeline capable of delivering long term commercial growth.
You will develop a clear understanding of where the greatest opportunities exist across the territory, allocate your time accordingly and become a trusted commercial contact for customers and a highly visible representative of the business across the regional marketplace.
Ultimately, this is an opportunity for somebody who already understands the market, knows how the flooring ecosystem works and has the credibility and commercial capability to make an impact from an early stage.
