This role focuses on growing the Cavity Barrier business in the UK by combining technical expertise, product management, and strong relationships across the façade and firestop sectors. You’ll work closely with architects, façade contractors, and firestop specialists, providing technical support and helping ensure our cavity barrier systems are specified on key projects. Alongside this, you’ll manage the global cavity barrier product range, collaborating with headquarters to support product development, compliance, and market introduction across international subsidiaries.

The role also involves supporting sales teams with technical knowledge, raising awareness of the product range, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and assisting procurement with supplier evaluation. Overall, this is a strategic technical role bridging product management, specification support, and market growth within the façade and passive fire protection sector.

Job Objectives:
  • Proactively developing the Cavity Barrier business in the UK through excellent technical support and strong professional relationships with key customers, mainly architects and firestop/façade contractors.
  • Product Management of the Cavity Barrier Range (globally) in cooperation with company headquarters.
  • Support further company subsidiaries in the market introduction and training of the product range.
  • Ensure products are fully compliant with respective industry and local standards.
  • Support purchasing department in selection and evaluation of suppliers.
  • Proactively work with the sales teams to raise awareness of the Cavity Barrier product range, applications, and sales opportunities.
Duties:
  • Development of product range including Product Management, supplier research, testing according to needed industry standards and in compliance with Company Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain and develop professional relationships with key customer groups offering an effective “point of contact” position for all technical issues.
  • Market and promote the product range by communicating professionally with Project Engineers, Contractors & chosen supply chain managers.
  • Provide advice and support to Facade Systems Manager and Specification Engineers.
  • Ensure availability and supply chain together with Purchasing Department and Logistics.
  • Provide technical support on Firestop to the company Sales and Technical teams worldwide where requested.
  • Carry out site surveys and provide a professional advisory service, application drawings, sketches, and proposals where required.
  • Train TSEs in carrying out site surveys.
  • Develop and grow sales to specialist Firestop Installers in accordance with guidelines and in conjunction with sales teams.
  • On-going training of company employees, key customers, and distributors to raise competency levels of Firestop.
  • Ensure all Firestop products are fully compliant with necessary industry standards.
  • Updating details on Test Reports, Standards and other Firestop data on Company server.
  • Maintain C4C clients’ database and adequate records of all correspondence and specifications submitted.
  • Assist in the preparation of training seminars and CPD presentations.
  • Assist in sales by providing support to marketing department with creation of relevant marketing materials, relevant graphics, data, and editorial features.
  • Make sure Company literature and website are up to date and any changes are communicated to other departments and customers.
  • Various other duties that the Technical Manager may require from time to time within the range of the competencies of the individual.
Personal Profile Skills Level:
  • Educated to a degree level in a construction or mechanical engineering related discipline, alternatively strong technical background and experience.
  • Experience in Product Management preferable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commercial awareness with ability to develop and secure new business with the vision, desire, and self-belief to drive the business further.
  • Ideally conversant with all Firestop approvals, regulations & legislation (Focus ETA, UL, BS).
  • Fully IT conversant and preferably proficient in AutoCAD.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Ability to negotiate with people of all levels with tact and discretion.
  • Dynamic individual who can listen to clients and respond quickly to help them meet and exceed their expectations.
  • Self-motivated, reliable, persistent, and thorough.
  • Well organised, with excellent customer focus.
  • Ability to give practical demonstrations on site.
  • Willing to travel frequently, also internationally.
  • Ability to work on own initiative essential.
Experience:
  • Minimum five years’ experience in construction environment, preferably Cavity Barrier or Rainscreen Facade related industries and an associated technical sales environment.
  • Conversant with construction techniques and site procedures.
  • Construction fixing knowledge would be an advantage.
  • Full training available to the right individual, however preference will be given to candidates with experience of passive fire protection or façade design and specification sales or product management within the Firestop/Façade industry.
