Our client is seeking an enthusiastic and driven Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team. This is a great opportunity for a candidate with an HND or similar qualification who is working towards a degree in Quantity Surveying and is looking to build a solid career with a reputable contractor.
You will work under the guidance of a Quantity Surveyor and provide financial and contractual support on projects. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone eager to learn and develop their career in a fast-paced, supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Quantity Surveyor in the delivery of financial and commercial tasks across projects.
- Measure completed works for interim and final accounts and support agreements with clients and subcontractors.
- Assist in preparing site records, cost reports, material tracking, and other commercial documentation.
- Support the purchasing team with supply chain orders and drafting subcontract documentation.
- Measure subcontractor and operative works for certification and payment purposes.
- Provide commercial information and statistics for internal and external project reporting.
- Maintain an organised filing and documentation system for all project-related commercial records.
- Help ensure compliance with industry standards, regulations, and internal quality management systems.
- Keep up to date with current construction practices, technology, and relevant legislation.
Skills & Experience Required:
- HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying or related field – ideally working towards a BSc.
- Some practical experience or industry placement in a construction or surveying environment.
- Understanding of standard forms of measurement and contracts.
- Familiarity with construction methods, health & safety practices, and procurement processes.
- Relevant CSCS card, with Asbestos Awareness certification preferred.
- Competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Word.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- High levels of accuracy, organisation, and attention to detail.
- Willingness to work on site as well as in the office.
