Are you a commercially driven, senior level specification and key account sales professional who thrives in technically demanding, performance led environments and enjoys operating at the centre of the A&D, consultant and end user ecosystem? This is an opportunity to represent a market leading manufacturer of premium flooring solutions, widely recognised for technical performance, sustainability credentials, and long-term lifecycle value. Its products are specified into some of the most complex and critical environments across the UK, including healthcare, education, life sciences, pharmaceutical, and specialist commercial projects. The role offers genuine influence, autonomy, and long-term career progression for someone who wants to be known as a trusted sector specialist, shaping environments where performance, compliance, and durability are paramount.
The Role
This is a senior, specification led key account sales role focused on influence, technical credibility, and commercial impact. You will be responsible for driving specification and conversion on a project-by-project basis across technically complex developments, working closely with architects, interior designers, consultants, contractors, and end user clients. The role is predominantly field based within the region, with significant time spent engaging the A&D community, consultant practices, and end user stakeholders. Success in this role comes from trusted relationships, technical knowledge, and the ability to manage long cycle, multi stakeholder projects from concept through to completion.
Responsibilities
- Build and strengthen the brand profile within specification led and technical sectors, positioning the business as a trusted partner
- Drive specification into healthcare, education, life sciences, pharmaceutical and specialist commercial projects from early design stages through to completion
- Develop long-term relationships with architects, designers, consultants, contractors, procurement teams and end users
- Operate as a visible and credible brand ambassador within the regional specification and consultant community
- Influence material selection based on technical performance, sustainability, compliance and lifecycle value rather than price
- Identify, track and convert long cycle, multi stakeholder projects while maintaining a robust and realistic pipeline
- Demonstrate strong, professional negotiation skills to protect margin and deliver profitable outcomes
- Work closely with internal colleagues to ensure specification protection, alignment and successful delivery
- Deliver CPDs, technical presentations, product forums and client workshops
- Maintain accurate administration, reporting and forecasting to support strategic planning
Knowledge, Skills and Experience Required
To be considered, candidates should be based within the North UK region, ideally across Yorkshire, the North Midlands, or the M62 corridor, and be comfortable operating autonomously in a field based, specification led role. Essential experience and attributes include:
- Proven background in specification or project led sales within the resilient flooring, wider flooring or technical interior products
- 5 to 10 years’ experience promoting performance led, specification driven products or solutions
- A strong network across architects, designers, consultants, contractors and end user organisations
- Clear understanding of how technically complex projects are conceived, specified, funded and delivered
- Experience managing long cycles, multi stakeholder sales processes
- Credible, professional presence with the ability to influence at all levels
- Commercially astute, business development driven mindset
- Evidence of stability, performance and progression in previous roles
- Collaborative team player with a professional and structured approach
- Self-motivated, organised and comfortable operating with autonomy
- Full UK driving license
- Strong IT skills including Excel and CRM systems
The Person
This role will suit someone who enjoys autonomy, technical credibility and relationship led selling. You are confident operating within architect studios, consultant practices, contractor meetings and end user environments, and are equally comfortable discussing technical compliance and lifecycle performance as you are negotiating commercial terms. You will be responsible for managing multi-million-pound budgets and high value key accounts and must be able to operate with credibility in senior internal and client facing discussions. You take pride in representing premium, technically advanced products and are motivated by building long term value rather than transactional sales.
What’s in it for you?
- Strong basic salary up to £65,000 with flexibility for exceptional candidates
- Strong performance-related bonus with over target accelerators and cross product earning opportunities
- Low Tax Company car
- Pension & Healthcare
- Mobile and laptop
- 25 days holiday
- Genuine long-term career development and progression opportunities
