The role of the Road Rail Plant fitter is to support the company Road Rail Vehicles (RRV) by timed servicing, fault finding, repairs and by providing on site fitter cover. The role will be a mixture of workshop based activities at our Derbyshire premises and national travel/work supporting our vehicles/business requirements on the national rail infrastructure.

The vehicles predominately comprise of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP) and Knuckle Boom Cranes (KBC, Lorry loader) which are used by Network Rail and other principal contractors for new projects, upgrades and maintenance on the rail network.

A high degree of flexibility is required for the role as the industry is fast paced and ever changing, this will include having to work rostered days or nights and weekends to meet the business needs.

Minimum requirements:
  • Experience in vehicle service and repairs including mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems.
  • HGV class 2 (C) License.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and alone.

A competitive salary is offered dependent on experience, company van, mobile phone, company pension plus additional benefits. Due to the specialist nature of the vehicles and the rail industry extensive training will be provided. Industry practice also requires a D & A test and medical to be undertaken. Overtime available.
