The Company & Opportunity
We’re partnering with a fast-growing, entrepreneurial B2B business based in Royston. They’re known for their high standards of service, a professional but lively office environment, and strong, long-term relationships with their customers. Due to continued growth, they’re looking for a Corporate Account Manager to take ownership of a portfolio of SME and corporate clients, and to help build out new relationships locally.
This isn’t a “smile and dial” sales role. It’s a senior, relationship-led position where you’ll act as a trusted commercial partner to your customers – focused on long-term value, renewals, and account growth rather than quick wins. It’s a brilliant opportunity for someone with solid B2B sales or account management experience who wants more ownership, more depth in their client relationships, and a genuine say in how accounts are developed.
The Role
- Managing and growing a portfolio of business customers – typically SMEs and mid-market corporates.
- Growing an existing book of corporate and SME clients.
- Managing new corporate wins once they’ve been onboarded – building the relationship and driving long-term value.
- Prospecting locally to identify and develop new business relationships over time.
- Acting as a trusted advisor – understanding your clients’ commercial goals and aligning solutions to support them.
- Driving renewals, upsell and expansion within your accounts (e.g. additional services, increased spend, multi-site relationships).
- Meeting clients face-to-face where appropriate to deepen relationships and understand their plans.
- Expect a blend of phone, email, video, and in-person meetings, with plenty of autonomy to manage your own time and priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Take full ownership of a portfolio of SME and corporate clients.
- Build strong, long-term relationships with business owners, directors, and senior decision-makers.
- Develop and execute account plans to drive retention, renewal and growth.
- Proactively identify opportunities for upsell, cross-sell and increased spend.
- Handle inbound enquiries from existing and new corporate customers in a professional, consultative manner.
- Negotiate commercial terms that work for both the client and the business.
- Maintain accurate records, forecasts and activity in the CRM.
- Work closely with colleagues in operations and sales to ensure excellent customer experience.
About You
We’re looking for a commercially sharp, relationship-first Account Manager who enjoys owning and growing business relationships. You will:
- Have a strong background in B2B sales and/or account management.
- Be confident dealing with business owners, directors and senior stakeholders.
- Have proven experience managing ongoing client relationships, not just one-off deals.
- Be naturally consultative – you listen, ask smart questions, and think long-term.
- Be highly organised and disciplined, comfortable managing a busy portfolio and pipeline.
- Enjoy working with numbers and commercials – margins, pricing, and basic P&L thinking.
- Be proactive, self-motivated and comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy.
- Thrive in a professional but down-to-earth environment, where relationships and reputation matter.
What’s In It For You?
- Competitive basic salary: £40,000–£45,000 (DOE).
- Realistic OTE: £65,000–£70,000.
- Company car.
- Opportunity to step into a senior, relationship-led role with real ownership of key accounts.
- Join a growing, ambitious business where decisions are made quickly and good people are recognised.
- Work closely with the leadership team and have genuine impact on how accounts are grown and managed.
