A prestigious, London-based luxury fashion group known for its distinctive, globally recognized designs is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Credit Controller to join its dynamic Finance team. Key Responsibilities

  • The Credit Controller will act as the key point of contact for wholesale and retail account queries, ensuring efficient debt collection and robust credit risk management.
  • Accounts Receivable & Collections: Manage the end-to-end credit control process. This includes proactively chasing overdue accounts via phone and email while maintaining a professional and brand-appropriate tone, accurately allocating cash receipts, and regularly reconciling customer accounts.
  • Credit Risk & Relationship Management: Monitor credit exposure for key accounts and flag risks proactively. The individual will collaborate closely with the Sales and wholesale teams to manage account holds and disputes seamlessly, preserving vital commercial relationships.
  • Dispute Resolution: Investigate and resolve invoice queries, short payments, and claims. This role requires cross-functional collaboration with logistics, wholesale, and customer service teams to address root-cause issues and maintain a clear dispute log.
  • Reporting & Process Improvement: Produce regular aged debtor reports, escalating risk accounts to the Head of Finance as appropriate. Assist with month-end close (including AR balances and bad debt provisioning), contribute to cash flow forecasting, and support continuous process improvements across both brands.

The Ideal Candidate

The client is looking for a resilient, highly organized individual who possesses strong commercial awareness and can successfully balance credit risk management with preserving key relationships.

Essential Criteria:

  • Proven experience in a credit control or accounts receivable role, ideally within the fashion, retail, or a multi-brand environment.
  • Strong understanding of end-to-end collections processes and credit risk principles.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the confidence to deal with external stakeholders professionally.
  • High attention to detail and a structured, organized approach to managing a large debtor ledger.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working across multiple legal entities or brands simultaneously.
  • Exposure to international wholesale accounts and multi-currency AR.
  • Understanding of fashion wholesale trading terms (e.g., net 30/60/90, factoring).
  • Experience working with Stripe or similar payment platforms.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (ideally Xero & Zedonk).
  • Competent in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables and VLOOKUP for reconciliation and reporting.
