SRM are exclusively recruiting an operational Private Office Accountant on behalf of a high net worth family office based in Berkshire. We are seeking an experienced individual to take ownership of the financial administration and management of a high net worth family, their associated businesses and personal affairs. This is very much an operational finance role (not investment advisory) where you will oversee the financial affairs and property portfolio on behalf of the family.

The role is broad, hands on, execution focused with responsibility for personal finances and cashflow, property management, co-ordination with external advisors and delivery of core personal financial matters.

Key Responsibilities will include:
  • Personal management:
    • Reconciliation of personal bank statements and credit cards
    • Approval and payment of expenses
    • Ensure all income and expenditure is accurately recorded on accounting software (Sage)
    • Management and reporting of investments
    • Management Accounts on personal expenditure and income
    • Review and tracking of investment strategy to ensure it is appropriate for family’s needs and risk appetite
    • Oversight of tax relief utilisation and general tax/estate planning
    • Key personal contact for all advisors, including but not limited to: insurance renewals, investment advisors, solicitors, accountants, banking and trustees
    • Preparation of tax returns and external filings
    • Support in day to day activities and projects of all family members where required along with personal assistant/office administrator
  • Property Management:
    • Management of extensive residential property portfolio including day to day duties of approving references, preparing tenancy agreements, repairs and maintenance scheduling, collecting rent and deposit protection, certificate renewals and keeping on top of new legislation
  • Other Duties:
    • Operating and management of payroll
    • Bookkeeping for accounts reporting and tax returns of personal accounts and tax filings, investment entities, trusts and partnerships
    • Preparation of management accounts for investment entities
    • Review and management of personal tax exposure to multiple jurisdictions ensuring the relevant filings are made, seeking specialist advice where necessary
Required:
  • ACA / ACCA Qualified ideally with experience in a practice, private/family office or High Net Worth household finance environment
  • Strong accounting and bookkeeping capability, ideally in a complex private client or owner managed context
  • Experience coordinating across multiple advisors and jurisdictions with UK experience essential
  • Commercial judgement with the ability to identify and mitigate financial, tax or structural risk early
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small household team
  • Discrete and trustworthy to be professional across a broad spectrum of stakeholders
  • Ability to be concise with family communication and prioritise own workload
  • Must have a can do attitude with no job being too big or small
Desirable:
  • Experience with Sage 50 accounts
