Our client, a leading manufacturing business based in Mitcham, is seeking a Commercial Accountant to join their dynamic finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering accurate financial reporting and insightful analysis that drives strategic decision-making.
About the Role
You will manage financial figures within the ERP system, produce month-end reporting packs and support process improvements across the finance function. This is a hands-on role that involves liaising with auditors, preparing statutory accounts, contributing to budgeting and forecasting processes. The position suits someone with an analytical background who thrives on data-driven work and enjoys collaborating with commercial teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Involvement in the day-to-day operations of a busy finance department.
- Maintain and control financial data within the ERP system (e.g., SAGE), including balance sheet reconciliations and order management.
- Support the Financial Controller in producing and reviewing month-end reporting packs to strict deadlines, including group-level reporting.
- Prepare monthly and ad-hoc financial reports, including KPIs and sustainability metrics.
- Deliver ad-hoc reporting for team members, particularly focused on cost-saving opportunities.
- Record and monitor non-financial KPIs such as production levels, labour, sales, and customer service.
- Collect and analyse non-financial data for sustainability and compliance reporting.
- Participate in annual budgeting and re-forecasting processes in collaboration with other departments.
- Assist with all aspects of stock accounting, including stocktakes, margin reconciliation, and creation of new products and bills of materials.
- Prepare timely cash flow forecasts for internal and group-level communication.
- Undertake additional tasks as requested by the Financial Controller within the scope of the role.
Skills & Experience
- Part-qualified ACCA/CIMA (or equivalent).
- Strong Excel skills (VLOOKUP's, Pivot Tables, basic macros).
- Experienced in using ERP systems (e.g., Sage 200) within a manufacturing environment.
- Comprehensive understanding of financial processes impacting accounts.
- Skilled in year-end close, ledger reconciliation, WIP management, and preparation of annual statutory accounts.
- Implements process changes to enhance efficiency and add value to core operations.
