Our client is a market leading M&A insurance MGA with an established team of Underwriters. They are now looking for an experienced Tax Underwriter to lead their tax risk insurance business. The role offers a rare opportunity to develop your tax career as part of a market-leading insurance business by underwriting tax liability risks across all regions outside of the US in a fast-paced and collegiate environment.
Responsibilities
- Underwriting tax liability insurance risks (independently, as head of the team and also working with other team members) including:
- Analysing and assessing tax risks
- Reviewing relevant transaction documentation from a tax perspective (e.g. sale and purchase agreements and due diligence reports)
- Drafting and negotiating complex policy language
- Establishing and growing strong relationships with brokers, clients and advisors
- Mentoring other tax team members and providing technical guidance
Skills and Experience
- Tax legal or accountancy background with at least 2 years of UK/EU tax insurance underwriting or broking experience
- Strong ability to analyse a broad variety of corporate tax issues arising in domestic and cross-border transactions/structures as well as operational tax issues to determine key issues
- People management β ability to engage and lead a team
