As they scale, they are looking for an experienced Financial Controller to join their finance leadership team.
The Opportunity
As Financial Controller, you will own the end‑to‑end financial close process and oversee the day‑to‑day finance operations. You’ll lead a team of four talented professionals and work closely with commercial, operations, and senior finance stakeholders to ensure timely, accurate financial reporting and robust controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Month, Quarter & Year‑End Close: Lead and execute the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to deadlines.
- Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of four finance professionals, setting clear objectives and performance standards.
- Financial Reporting & Analysis: Prepare statutory and management accounts; deliver insightful variance analysis, KPI reporting, and commentary for the Executive team.
- Operational Finance: Oversee accounts payable/receivable, inventory accounting, payroll liaison, and cash management processes.
- Policy & Controls: Maintain and enhance financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to safeguard company assets and support compliance.
- Continuous Improvement: Drive process improvements and automation initiatives across the finance function (e.g., ERP enhancements, reporting tools).
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the finance business partner to department heads, providing financial guidance and challenge to support strategic decision‑making.
Your Profile
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with a minimum of 3+ years’ post‑qualification experience in a retail and/or e‑commerce environment.
- Proven track record leading a finance team and managing full‑cycle close processes.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge (UK GAAP and IFRS) and hands‑on experience with ERP systems (e.g., NetSuite, SAP Business One, Microsoft Dynamics).
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and a proactive mindset.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, comfortable presenting to senior management.
- Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment, balancing strategic thinking with operational rigor.
