On behalf of our client, a leading energy group operating across several jurisdictions, we are seeking an experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join their executive leadership team. This is a confidential appointment for a Private Equity-backed organization with a clear vision to provide dependable energy for every generation.
The Opportunity
The CFO will oversee all financial aspects and procurement for a Group comprising 15 companies across four jurisdictions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will be a critical strategic partner, providing financial insights to support commercial decision-making and driving the company’s long-term financial forecasting. A central focus of this role is supporting the Private Equity shareholders through a strategic journey toward a successful exit, projected within the next two to three years.
The Ideal Candidate
- Qualified Expert: Holds a professional accounting qualification (ACA, CIMA, or CA) and demonstrates "graduate calibre" leadership.
- Proven Track Record: Brings over 10 years of experience as a CFO or Group Finance Director, preferably within a Private Equity-owned portfolio company.
- Scale Experience: Has managed organizations with revenues exceeding £50m and approximately 150 staff.
- Technical Proficiency: Possesses deep knowledge of FRS102, complex group consolidations, and risk management practices.
- Sector Knowledge: Experience within a regulated energy utility or B2C environment is highly desirable, as is familiarity with the Channel Islands and Isle of Man regulatory landscapes.
- Leadership Style: Exhibits high emotional intelligence (EQ) and a collaborative leadership approach that prioritizes honesty, teamwork, and a "human" element.
