Job Description
An outstanding opportunity has arisen for a Pricing Analyst with one of South Devon's top employers. A global brand, and an international market leader, the pricing analyst provides pricing information to support the Company in winning business. They do this through collaboration with several areas of the business, acting as the gate keeper for the standard product costs.
Key responsibilities and tasks
Pricing Analysis:
- Develop and maintain pricing models incorporating cost data, market factors, and strategic pricing considerations.
- Conduct margin analysis, break-even analysis, and price elasticity studies.
- Provide pricing support for new product development (NPD), tenders, and commercial proposals.
- Monitor market trends and competitor pricing to inform pricing strategy.
- Recommend pricing actions to improve profitability and competitiveness.
Costing Responsibilities (Standard Costing):
- Maintain and update standard costs in the ERP system (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) based on approved inputs (materials, labour, overhead).
- Analyse cost variances and provide insights to stakeholders.
- Collaborate with operations, procurement, and supply chain to validate cost inputs and identify cost improvement opportunities.
- Support annual standard cost roll processes, including cost updates and simulations.
- Ensure costing accuracy and integrity across product lines and business units.
Business Partnering:
- Work closely with commercial, sales, and product management teams to support strategic pricing initiatives.
- Collaborate with finance and supply chain teams to align pricing with cost structures and financial goals.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders to drive informed decision-making.
Reporting & Analysis:
- Produce regular pricing and costing reports to support business performance tracking.
- Develop dashboards and tools for scenario analysis and ad hoc pricing simulations.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes with relevant cost and pricing input
Strategic Decision Support:
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support strategic decision-making processes.
- Collaborate with other departments to drive business performance and achieve strategic objectives.
Essential Applicant Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or professional qualification (CIMA/ACCA/ACA)
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide meaningful insights.
- Proficient in Excel, ERP systems (e.g., Dynamics 365 Business Central, Navision or similar), and data analysis tools (e.g., Power BI).
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey financial information to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
- 3+ years of experience in pricing, costing, or financial analysis, preferably in a manufacturing or product-based environment.
- Strong understanding of standard costing systems, variance analysis, and cost accounting principles.
- Commercially astute with attention to detail.
- Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
