SRM Recruitment are delighted to be partnering with a highly respected research-led organisation to recruit a Senior Management Accountant / Research Finance Business Partner. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified finance professional looking to combine management accounting, finance business partnering and project/funding support within a complex research and grant-funded environment.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior stakeholders, project leaders and budget holders, providing high-quality financial insight, supporting funding streams and helping drive effective financial decision making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Production of monthly management accounts, budgeting and forecasting
  • Finance business partnering with senior stakeholders and operational leaders
  • Supporting grant-funded projects, research activities and funding streams
  • Financial analysis, variance reporting and decision support
  • Monitoring project budgets and providing meaningful financial insight
  • Supporting sponsor, funder and project reporting requirements
  • Financial planning, forecasting and performance reporting
  • Supporting financial governance, controls and compliance activities
  • Identifying opportunities to improve processes, reporting and financial understanding across the organisation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
  • ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualification
  • Strong management accounting and business partnering experience
  • Experience gained within Higher Education, Research Institutes, Academy Trusts, NHS, Public Sector or larger grant-funded charities would be highly advantageous
  • Exposure to grants, research funding, sponsor reporting, project accounting or restricted funds
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Experience presenting financial information to non-finance stakeholders
  • Advanced Excel and strong systems capability
