A unique opportunity has arisen for an operational Head of Finance & Operations to lead a small family office in Hampshire. The Head of Finance will be responsible for the day to day running of the family office, acting as a key liaison on behalf of the family and third party advisors. This is a high profile role, where discretion, attention to detail and willingness to be operational are high priorities. This is a broad and varied role, requiring attention to detail and a willingness to work on non-finance related matters.
Reporting to the CEO/Owner, key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Support the long-term financial strategies aligned with the family's goals.
- Oversee bookkeeping, financial statements, and consolidated reporting across entities including management of Financial Controller/Bookkeeper.
- Provide clear financial insights and analysis to support decision making.
- Plan for liquidity needs, including distributions, capital calls, and major purchases.
- Coordinate with tax advisors.
- Support due diligence and financial modeling for new opportunities.
- Oversee supplier payment runs, ensuring strong financial controls.
- Track performance of investments.
- Oversee property developments and renovations across various estates.
- Oversee IT matters including estate security.
- Maintain positive supplier relationships and ensure best value.
- Manage and oversee insurances.
- Provide ad hoc support where required.
- Leverage technology for efficiency and data security.
- Collaborate with legal, investment, and estate planning professionals.
Candidate Requirements:
- ACA/CA (ideally practice trained) with at least 5 years operational finance experience.
- Comfortable being hands-on, operational and working on projects outside of finance.
- Experience working in a small company or family office environment.
- Must be able to drive and have access to a vehicle.
- Confident, clear, concise communicator.
- Strong attention to detail.
- High level of discretion, integrity, and professionalism.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Advanced MS Excel.
- Comfortable working mostly onsite at Hampshire location.
