Join a market‑leading, multi‑site operational business in the traffic management sector in this hands‑on role supporting Safety, Health, Environment & Quality (SHEQ) across the UK. Work closely with the SHEQ Manager and operational teams on‑site. Involved in audits, investigations, compliance, and continuous improvement. Candidates should ideally be based between Leeds and Solihull, with regular travel across the UK and Ireland and frequent visits to our Winsford head office.
This is a hands‑on, site‑facing role supporting the delivery of SHEQ standards across a fast‑paced, operational business. As a SHEQ Advisor, you’ll work closely with depot and site teams to ensure compliance, promote best practice, and drive continuous improvement across safety, quality and environmental performance. You’ll play a key role in supporting audits, investigations, and training, while helping to embed a strong and proactive SHEQ culture across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the implementation and continuous improvement of SHEQ policies, procedures and management systems.
- Carry out site inspections, audits and compliance monitoring across multiple locations.
- Support incident reporting, investigations and corrective actions.
- Review risk assessments, near misses and safe systems of work.
- Provide practical SHEQ advice and guidance to operational teams.
- Maintain accurate SHEQ documentation, records and performance data.
- Support delivery of training, inductions and toolbox talks.
- Assist with environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Work closely with the SHEQ Manager to identify trends and drive improvements.
About You
- Experience in a SHEQ / HSEQ / Health & Safety role, ideally within a multi‑site or operational environment.
- Background in traffic management, highways or construction is highly desirable.
- IOSH Managing Safely (or equivalent) essential.
- NEBOSH General Certificate (or working towards) desirable.
- Knowledge of Chapter 8 and highway safety standards.
- Understanding of UK H&S legislation and ISO standards (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
- Confident communicator, able to engage and influence site teams.
- Strong attention to detail with good documentation and reporting skills.
- Comfortable working in a hands‑on, fast‑paced environment.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly across the UK.
