Lead the HR function for a growing, multi-site operational business. Report directly to the CFO and influence senior leadership decisions. Manage and develop a small HR team. Blend strategic input with hands-on delivery. Drive people strategy, engagement, and organisational improvement. Regular travel to Solihull and UK site visits. Flexible working – 4 or 5 days + hybrid model.
This is a key leadership role within SRL Traffic Systems, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver the people agenda in a growing, fast-paced operational business. As HR Manager, you’ll lead the HR function, partnering with senior leaders to provide commercially focused advice while ensuring a consistent, high-quality HR service across all sites. You’ll balance strategic influence with day-to-day operational delivery, leading on complex employee relations, developing your team, and driving initiatives that improve engagement, performance, and retention.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, develop and manage the HR team, ensuring a consistent and high-quality service.
- Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, providing pragmatic and commercially focused HR advice.
- Lead on complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance).
- Support workforce planning, organisational development and business change initiatives.
- Coach and develop managers to strengthen leadership capability.
- Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Ensure HR policies and processes are legally compliant and fit for purpose.
- Work closely with recruitment to support hiring across the business.
- Drive engagement, wellbeing and retention initiatives.
- Use HR data and metrics to inform decision-making and identify trends.
- Promote a strong health, safety and compliance culture across all sites.
About You
- Proven experience in a senior HR generalist or HR Manager role within a multi-site or operational environment.
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law.
- Experience leading and developing an HR team.
- Confident handling complex and high-risk employee relations cases.
- Able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
- Commercially aware, pragmatic and solutions-focused.
- Comfortable balancing strategic input with hands-on delivery.
- Willing and able to travel regularly to Solihull and other sites.
