About the Role

This is a key leadership role within SRL Traffic Systems, offering the opportunity to shape and deliver the people agenda in a growing, fast‑paced operational business. As HR Manager, you’ll lead the HR function, partnering with senior leaders to provide commercially focused advice while ensuring a consistent, high‑quality HR service across all sites. You’ll balance strategic influence with day‑to‑day operational delivery, leading on complex employee relations, developing your team, and driving initiatives that improve engagement, performance, and retention.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop and manage the HR team, ensuring a consistent and high‑quality service
  • Act as a trusted partner to senior leaders, providing pragmatic and commercially focused HR advice
  • Lead on complex employee relations cases (disciplinary, grievance, absence, performance)
  • Support workforce planning, organisational development and business change initiatives
  • Coach and develop managers to strengthen leadership capability
  • Oversee payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Ensure HR policies and processes are legally compliant and fit for purpose
  • Work closely with recruitment to support hiring across the business
  • Drive engagement, wellbeing and retention initiatives
  • Use HR data and metrics to inform decision‑making and identify trends
  • Promote a strong health, safety and compliance culture across all sites

About You

  • Proven experience in a senior HR generalist or HR Manager role within a multi‑site or operational environment
  • CIPD Level 7 qualified (or equivalent)
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law
  • Experience leading and developing an HR team
  • Confident handling complex and high‑risk employee relations cases
  • Able to influence and challenge senior stakeholders
  • Commercially aware, pragmatic and solutions‑focused
  • Comfortable balancing strategic input with hands‑on delivery
  • Willing and able to travel regularly to Solihull and other sites
