We are looking for a Trainee Traffic Systems Technician to join SRL Traffic Systems, the UK leader in portable traffic lights, temporary traffic management equipment, and intelligent transport technology. This role is ideal for someone practical, physically fit, and eager to build technical skills. No industry experience is needed, just a full UK driving licence and a willingness to learn.
Hours: Monday–Friday, 8:00am–5:00pm, overtime, on‑call rota.
Environment: Outdoor, physical work in all weather conditions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver, set up, and configure portable traffic light systems at customer sites
- Carry out on‑site battery exchanges to keep equipment fully operational
- Inspect, repair, and maintain hire fleet equipment in the depot
- Load, unload, and transport equipment safely using a company vehicle
- Keep accurate records using mobile technology and internal systems
- Provide excellent customer service, ensuring equipment is installed safely and correctly
- Participate in on‑call rota and offer support during out‑of‑hours situations
Must‑Have Qualifications & Requirements:
- Live within 45 minutes of the depot
- Full UK driving licence (less than 6 points)
- Physically fit – able to lift and carry heavy equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors in all weather
- Practical, safety‑focused, and reliable
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Willing to learn technical skills
Desirable (not essential):
- Basic electrical knowledge
- Experience driving vans or towing trailers
