About the Role
We are seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing team in Winsford. Responsibilities will include scoping, specifying, and implementing operational and transactional performance improvement projects to improve customer service, reducing manufacturing costs and reducing lead times.
Play a key role in implementing and enhancing the new Material Requirements Planning (MRP) system, supporting site layout redesign, and contributing to automation and lean manufacturing projects. They will work closely with cross-functional teams to enhance operational efficiency and ensure the delivery of high quality products.
Be conversant with time study and process improvements through standard work and maintenance of MRP system data to ensure planning and manufacturing accuracy and efficiency. Optimise master data to accurately reflect manufacturing process. Provide business improvement ideas generation. Lean Principles Champion in conjunction with Manufacturing Director. Project Management, Gantt chart and Gateway review and relevant contractor management. CapEx preparation and submission and management. Conceptualisation, development and installation of automation. Technical support of project & NPI implementations.
Key Accountabilities
MRP Implementation:
• Support the rollout and optimisation of the MRP system to improve production planning, inventory control, and materials management.
• Collaborate with production, procurement, and IT teams to ensure seamless integration and functionality.
Site Layouts:
• Assist in the design and development of improved site layouts to enhance workflow, reduce waste, and optimise space utilisation.
• Create detailed layouts using CAD software and support the implementation of changes.
Automation Projects:
• Identify opportunities to integrate automation into manufacturing processes to increase efficiency and reduce manual tasks.
• Support the specification, sourcing, and implementation of automation technologies.
Lean Manufacturing Projects:
• Assist in identifying and implementing lean initiatives to reduce waste, improve processes, and increase productivity.
• Support the use of lean tools such as 5S, Kaizen, and Value Stream Mapping.
Continuous Improvement:
• Analyse production data to identify areas for improvement and propose solutions.
• Support the development and documentation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Collaboration and Training:
• Work with cross-functional teams to drive projects and meet objectives.
• Support the training of staff on new processes and technologies.
Key Skills
• Understanding of MRP systems and their role in manufacturing environments (training will be provided).
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and tools.
• Experience with CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) is desirable.
• Basic knowledge of automation technologies and processes is advantageous.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Project leadership and management of business improvement projects and installations.

Qualifications:
