Role: Maintenance Engineer (Industrial Electrician Bias)

Location: Tamworth

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

SRG are seeking a skilled and qualified Electrical Engineer with a strong bias toward industrial electrical systems. This role involves the installation, maintenance, and fault diagnosis of complex machinery in a manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be electrically certified to UK standards and confident working across both electrical and mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems including 3-phase motors, control panels, PLCs, VFDs, and sensors.
  • Diagnose faults using schematics, control diagrams, testing equipment, and diagnostic software.
  • Perform both Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance to reduce downtime.
  • Ensure compliance with UK electrical regulations, including BS 7671 (18th Edition) and Electricity at Work Regulations 1989.
  • Support machinery installation, commissioning, and continuous improvement projects.
  • Modify and fault-find PLC systems (Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Mitsubishi).
  • Interpret electrical schematics and mechanical engineering drawings.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and technical documentation.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with PUWER, LOLER, and Health & Safety at Work Act 1974.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency and sustainability initiatives.

Essential Qualifications & Experience:

  • Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Electrical Installation or Engineering Maintenance.
  • City & Guilds 2365 / 2330 / 2360 or equivalent.
  • 18th Edition BS 7671 Wiring Regulations (C&G).
  • Apprenticeship trained in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • Proven experience in industrial or manufacturing environments.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • City & Guilds 2391 / 2394 / 2395 (Testing & Inspection).
  • HNC/HND in Electrical, Mechanical, or Electromechanical Engineering.
  • PLC fault finding and programming experience.
  • COMPEX Ex01-Ex04 CSCS/ECS Card.
  • IOSH Working Safely / Managing Safely certification.
