Laboratory Steward 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (FTC) Southampton

Are you passionate about supporting scientific innovation and optimising laboratory processes? We are seeking a proactive Laboratory Steward to join a well-established team within a large Research & Development environment in Southampton. This is a full-time, 6-month fixed term contract opportunity, ideal for someone with a background in laboratory or pharmaceutical settings.

As a Laboratory Steward, you’ll play a key role in facilitating lab operations and supporting scientific teams. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the safe and sustained supply of gases, managing lab consumables and waste, performing operational checks on equipment, and championing new technologies to improve service delivery. You’ll work closely with both client end users and internal colleagues, ensuring compliance with health & safety and quality assurance standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Daily checks and maintenance of lab gases, cryogenic liquids, and equipment
  • Management of lab consumables and hazardous waste
  • Hosting contractors and supporting wider laboratory servicing
  • Adhering to safety rules, risk assessments, and quality systems
  • Supporting business development and liaising with clients and suppliers
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working in a laboratory or pharmaceutical environment
  • Strong communication skills and a flexible approach to work
  • Proficiency with PC and Microsoft tools
  • Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary, customer-facing teams
