Laboratory Programme Manager

Scope of the role:
You will be responsible for running laboratory projects including for laboratory assets, line management of project managers and lab technicians in the facility and driving continuous improvement within Quality functions and Health and Safety process. This role requires a client-facing element and so a background in dealing with external customers, suppliers or vendors will be paramount.
Role requirements:
- Working within a team of Lab Services professionals responsible for facilitating a strategic operational programme. Manage, organise and implement a specialist engineering support for a variety of laboratory equipment.
- Manage contractual obligations around agreed SLAβs and scope of individual agreements.
- Organise the daily and forward-planned activities for the Lab Services team in order to meet business needs and provide excellence in customer experience.
- Manage the Lab Service team: plan and schedule daily activities, utilise appropriate resources, hire new staff as required, succession planning, recognition, training needs, discipline and ongoing performance management.
- Maintain and update the internal database to ensure compliance in preparation for internal and external audits, as well as Safety audits and COSHH risk assessments.
- Budget management β set annual budget, liaison with stakeholders, identify cost saving opportunities.
- Collaborate with other departments including finance, training, and sourcing to share best practice and roll-out programme improvements.
- Uphold and comply with cGxP regulations β undertake training as required for self and team.
Your background:
- You will bring a background as a Laboratory/Equipment Engineer from a Pharmaceutical Lab setting.
- Extensive exposure and knowledge of lab and project management.
- Expert organisation skills, detail-oriented and proactive in your approach.
- Sound project management skills, milestone management and strong influencing and negotiation skills.
- Background in scientific asset management.
- Responsible for P&L, producing financial performance reports for both internal and external use.
- Accustomed to hiring β recruitment selection process, training and development, coaching and mentoring, appraisals and rewards for performance and retention.
- Good H&S document and process management.
- Background of working in a highly regulated sector (GxP), pharmaceutical is essential.
- Proven line management experience.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office suite as well as databases and QMS.
