SRG are working with a leading scientific institute who deliver a wide range of lab-based services. Based in the York area, they have recently started hiring for a Laboratory Facilities Supervisor to join the team on a temporary basis. We are looking for someone who has previous experience working in a molecular laboratory, ideally working with standards such as ISO 17025 and ISO 9001. The role will consist of day to day supervising of the laboratory facilities and scientific equipment.

Role Description

  • Overseeing daily operations of the Molecular Technology Facility, including scheduling maintenance and ensuring high laboratory standards.
  • Liaising with engineers and contractors to coordinate and support facility-related work.
  • Communicating with facility users to resolve issues, share updates and gather feedback.
  • Conducting inductions and training sessions for new starters and visitors.
  • Ensuring compliance with ISO 17025, ISO 9001 and health & safety standards while supporting long-term facilities planning.

Requirements

  • Recent working knowledge of laboratory operations, preferable within a containment level II lab.
  • Experience working to accredited laboratory standards (ISO 17025, ISO 9001, or equivalent).
  • Strong interpersonal and team working skills, as well as strong attention to detail with record keeping.
  • Good IT skills, particularly in the use of databases and Microsoft applications.
  • Able to travel to York on a regular basis. Will likely need a car as the site can be difficult to get to without one.
  • Full right to work in the UK.
