Laboratory Assistant
We are working on an exciting opportunity for a Lab Assistant to join a global medical products and technologies company. Our client is focused on solutions for the management of chronic conditions, with leading positions in advanced wound care, ostomy care, continence care, and infusion care.
Overview
As a Laboratory Assistant your role will be to provide all the required technical support to enable the laboratory to function effectively and efficiently; you will ensure that lab equipment is maintained to the appropriate quality, relevant records are up to date and all administrative and quality processes work effectively.
You will be involved in assisting teams as needed for any structural and/or ancillary tasks as well as carrying out basic laboratory techniques and methodologies; occasionally, conducting lab-testing using detailed work-instructions. In addition, you will be responsible for managing several administrative activities that facilitate the smooth running of office and lab associated processes, oversee, and maintain databases, collate data, draft regulatory document, work closely with the quality team and work with vendors and contractors.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Maintain and calibrate technical equipment, including, but not limited to balances, UV-Vis, fluorimeter, FTIR, Water Activity, Elix water system and pipettes.
- Prep solutions and buffers as needed.
- Liaise with vendors to procure quotes and purchasing laboratory equipment, consumables, and supplies.
- Keeping records of lab expenditure.
- Set up and maintain scientific databases, including data management and filing.
- Oversee metrology logs to ensure annual or 6 monthly PM/PQ of equipment is carried out in a timely manner.
- Oversee stock management, waste disposal and shipping.
- Be able to process and interpret large data sets.
- Draft and review quality documents.
- Administrative support to provide consistent management and oversight of the lab, purchasing, stock management.
About You
- 3-5 years hands-on lab technician experience.
- Familiarity with working in a laboratory setting – knowledge of basic lab scientific systems and processes.
- Having worked in a regulatory environment will be a great advantage.
- Start work at or before 8.30am to set up lab equipment.
- Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
- Strong IT skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
- The ability to prioritise tasks and work under pressure.
- Outstanding interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A problem-solving approach to work
Desirable – But Not Essential
- Python coding experience.
- Worked within an eQMS.
Working Conditions
