In/Out Licensing Specialist – Pharma

Location: Hertfordshire, England, United Kingdom

Employment type: Part-time

Hours: 3 days per week (ideally Tue, Wed, Thu)

Role overview

Scope of the role: Identifying and moving in-licensing and out-licensing opportunities through the sales lifecycle across a wide range of products within the medical devices, medicines and cosmetics regulatory sectors. You will assess external opportunities, prepare business cases and engage with both internal teams as well as external partners.

Responsibilities

  • Identify in-licensing opportunities that have good synergy with NPD, wider commercial portfolio and expansion targets.
  • Create opportunity assessments which focus on: market size and dynamics, competitor landscape, regulatory pathways and formulation, product claims and positioning in the market, implications for manufacturing and supply chain and IP/exclusivity status. You will also identify risks that could affect feasibility, profitability and timescales.
  • Understand a variety of formulations and their USP’s, analyse current portfolio to highlight products suitable for out-licensing.
  • Work with Marketing team to approach potential licensing partners in targeted territories and/or therapeutics areas.
  • Create out-licensing packs covering product profiles, claim support and regulatory status information.
  • Support teams with technical, quality or regulatory due diligence from external parties.
  • Maintain the profile of commercial opportunities, providing context, rationale and data in order to maintain momentum.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Supply Chain and Finance colleagues to ensure continual operational feasibility.

Your background

  • BSc (or equivalent) in Pharmacy or a related discipline
  • Proven success in a business development role
  • Current and working knowledge of the regulatory landscape around semi-solid formulation of pharmaceutical/cosmetic products and medical devices
  • Highly organised, with accuracy and keen eye for detail
  • Strong negotiation and influencing skills
  • Enjoy working in an agile environment with hard deadlines
