SRG is delighted to be partnering with an innovative and growing diagnostics organisation to support the appointment of an experienced Clinical Scientist. This is a hands-on role combining clinical leadership, diagnostic assay delivery, and laboratory operations within a company developing cutting-edge diagnostic solutions across multiple disease areas.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring diagnostic services are delivered safely, accurately, and in line with the highest clinical and quality standards. Working closely with laboratory leadership, you will provide scientific expertise, support clinical governance activities, and contribute to the introduction and validation of new diagnostic services.
- Lead clinical activities relating to the implementation, validation, and ongoing optimisation of diagnostic testing platforms.
- Perform and oversee the processing, analysis, interpretation, and reporting of clinical diagnostic assays.
- Support ISO 15189 compliance and contribute to quality management and clinical governance activities.
- Assess clinical risks associated with diagnostic workflows and support corrective and preventative actions.
- Provide training, mentorship, and supervision to laboratory staff involved in clinical testing activities.
- Work closely with laboratory, quality, and technical teams to ensure services meet patient and user needs.
Qualifications:
- HCPC registration as a Clinical Scientist or a Medical Degree.
- Experience working within a clinical diagnostic laboratory environment.
- Hands-on experience with molecular and/or immunochemistry assays, including PCR-based testing.
- Strong understanding of clinical governance, risk assessment, and quality systems.
- Experience working within ISO 15189 accredited or regulated laboratory environments.
- Proven ability to balance clinical responsibilities with hands-on laboratory activities.
- Experience with genotyping assays and probe-based PCR workflows.
- Exposure to assay validation, verification, and implementation of new diagnostic tests.
- Experience supervising or mentoring laboratory personnel.
- Experience supporting service development and laboratory operational improvement initiatives.
