Overview

As Chief Technologist, you will provide strategic technical leadership across peptide and oligonucleotide technologies to shape capabilities, support commercial growth, and drive innovation in synthetic therapeutics.

You will act as the technical authority, guiding customer programs and capability development while engaging with partners and stakeholders.

Your work will translate advanced chemistry into scalable, commercially viable solutions and influence technology strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the recognised technical authority in peptide and/or oligonucleotide chemistry
  • Guide customer programmes, strategic initiatives, and capability development
  • Support scientists with specialist knowledge and problem-solving
  • Translate emerging scientific developments into practical, commercially relevant applications
  • Shape future capability in synthetic therapeutics and identify market opportunities
  • Inform long-term technology strategy and develop deliverable plans aligned to business goals
  • Anticipate developments in peptide and oligonucleotide tech and assess commercial relevance
  • Support translation of advanced chemistry into scalable capabilities
  • Collaborate with commercial and business development teams to pursue opportunities
  • Engage with customers, investors, and industry partners to capture market needs
  • Contribute to technical and commercial assessments of new opportunities and partnerships
  • Mentor scientists and promote knowledge sharing across networks
  • Foster innovation and continuous learning across the organization and external collaborators
  • Key requirements
  • Significant industrial experience in peptides and/or oligonucleotides
  • Strong expertise in peptide synthesis, modification, conjugation; complex or constrained peptides; peptide-drug conjugates; oligonucleotide chemistry; oligo conjugates; modified backbones and delivery-enabled constructs
  • Proven track record translating scientific knowledge into commercially relevant capabilities
  • Strong market understanding and ability to influence strategic direction
  • Excellent stakeholder management, networking, and influencing skills
  • Experience operating at a strategic level within pharmaceutical, biotech, CDMO, or advanced therapeutics environments
