Product Design Engineer 1
Salary: £26,939 - £34,939 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract (up to 18 months)
The Role
We are looking for a proactive and enthusiastic Product Design Engineer to support the delivery of a diverse portfolio of client projects with a focus on the medtech sector. Working as part of a collaborative engineering team, you will undertake and contribute to research activities, concept generation, product development, detailed design and technical problem-solving.
You will have the opportunity to work on multiple projects simultaneously, supporting clients from early-stage requirements capture through to design development and detailing for manufacture. As part of the role, you will engage with clients, suppliers and colleagues across CPI to ensure projects are delivered successfully and to the highest technical standards.
This role would particularly suit candidates with a background in Mechanical Design Engineering, Product Design Engineering or Industrial Design Engineering who are looking to develop their experience within a fast-paced innovation environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Design & Development
Support research and technical investigation activities to inform product development projects.
Generate innovative concepts and engineering solutions to meet customer and project requirements.
Capture user, business and stakeholder needs and translate them into clear, verifiable design inputs and engineering requirements.
Support the generation and maintenance of design and development documentation in accordance with established design control processes.
Develop mechanical designs, assemblies and draft engineering drawings and BOMs using CAD software.
Apply Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) principles throughout the design process.
Undertake prototype development, evaluation and iterative product improvement activities.
Produce and maintain accurate engineering documentation, drawings and bills of materials.
