Job Description:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Project Manager to oversee multiple fixed-price projects under NEC Type A contracts. You will be responsible for running your projects, including commercial aspects, and proactively anticipate and address any issues that may arise. You will be expected to take responsibility on project delivery, provide guidance and mentor Assistant Project Managers to develop them in building up core project management skillsets. You will be representing SRC at client facing meetings with confidence and credibility. This position requires meticulous planning, risk management, stakeholder communication, and contract administration.
· Delivering your projects or programme to agreed quality, time and budget tolerances through requisite project documentation, regular reviews with the project team and effective management of risks and dependencies.
· Effective communication and ability to manage teams at all levels across and outside the organisation.
· Agreeing resource allocation for your projects or programme to ensure successful delivery.
· Provide high quality projects and programme management services.
· Manage all phases of projects (from beginning to close out) independently.
· Manage consultant team and project stakeholders to ensure effective completion of responsibilities including project brief/scope, project deliverables & reporting etc.
· Assist with generating repeat business and developing new business opportunities such as bids.
· Establish and maintain good relationships with our clients and their stakeholders in interfacing operational environments.
· Prepare and present project progress reports, including commercial and performance updates.
· Support the client relationship and service delivery on a commission or project basis in conjunction with senior colleagues.
· Provide consistent and sound commercial reporting both internally and to the client.
· Administer change management processes, ensuring robust cost control and variation management including filing early warning notices.
· Monitor contractor performance, ensuring deliverables meet agreed specifications and standards.
· Delegating tasks to Assistant Project Managers.
Essential Criteria
· Educated to degree level in project management and/or construction/engineering-related discipline.
· Knowledge and proven experience of understanding of rail processes.
· 5 years’ project management experience managing fixed-price contracts, ideally NEC Type A.
· Proven track record in engineering or project management consultancy, preferably in the transportation or infrastructure sectors.
· Comprehensive understanding of NEC contracts, with demonstrated experience in administration and risk management.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong negotiation skills.
· Excellent interpersonal skills.
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
· Technical project management knowledge demonstrating experience and aptitude.
· A positive and innovative approach and the ability to work on own initiative.
· Must be well versed in the preparation of reports and information using packages such as, MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
· Experience and excellent knowledge of TfL Pathway or Network Rail GRIP, PACE.
· Working towards professional membership of a related discipline e.g. APM (Association for Project Management), PMI (Project Management Institute).
· NEC or other project management accreditation.
· Experience in a complex stakeholder environment.
· Experience using contract management software (e.g. Asite)
Desirable Criteria:
· Master’s degree in Project Management, Engineering Management, or a related field.
· Chartered with a relevant professional body.
· Advanced skills in project management software such as MS Project or Primavera P6, and familiarity with commercial management tools.
