SRC Infrastructure has been providing project management and engineering-based advisory, consultancy and managed services solutions to UK infrastructure clients for over 20 years. We carry out multi-disciplinary design packages and support clients with turnkey domain expertise in their teams.

Job Summary
As a Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the delivery of rail infrastructure projects across a range of disciplines. We welcome candidates from Civil, Mechanical or Electrical engineering backgrounds, who are keen to work within a multi-disciplinary rail environment. You will support the planning, coordination, technical assurance and delivery of engineering packages, working closely with Project Managers, clients and design partners. This is a hands-on engineering and coordination role suited to someone who enjoys both technical problem-solving and stakeholder engagement. You will be required to execute engineering projects within your area of expertise, as well as representing SRC at client facing meetings with confidence and credibility. You will be working closely and directly with external/client staff, key stakeholders and the internal SRC team.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engineering packages within rail infrastructure projects, aligned to programme, cost and quality requirements
- Support the development, coordination and assurance of multi-disciplinary designs
- Interpret client requirements and standards to develop compliant and practical engineering solutions
- Coordinate interfaces between disciplines and stakeholders in complex rail environments
- Support technical reviews and design assurance processes in line with project lifecycle stages
- Monitor compliance with relevant rail standards, health & safety requirements, and environmental considerations
- Assist in managing risks, issues and change control within engineering packages
- Contribute to technical proposals and client presentations where required
- Build strong working relationships with client representatives and project stakeholders
- Work collaboratively within SRC and client teams to support high-performance project delivery
- Mentor graduate and junior engineers where appropriate
- Manage personal workload effectively across multiple projects and delivery milestones
About You
We are looking for engineers who are technically capable, commercially aware and confident operating in client-facing rail environments.
Essential Criteria
- Right to work in the UK
- Degree in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (Bsc, MSc or MEng)
- Minimum 5+ years’ experience in engineering design, design coordination or project engineering within infrastructure or rail
- Experience in multidisciplinary project environment
- Understanding of the UK rail environment and its regulatory framework
- Experience and good knowledge of TfL Pathway or Network Rail GRIP, PACE and engineering standards and specifications
- Working knowledge of relevant rail standards and assurance processes
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities and work to programme deadlines
- Proactive mindset with a willingness to broaden technical and commercial knowledge
- Proficient in MS Office
Desirable Criteria
- Rail project experience across stations, track, civils, MEP or systems environments
- Knowledge of full project lifecycle from concept through to handover
- Master of Science Degree in Engineering Subject or related
- Member of relevant professional body with chartership or working towards chartered status
