MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB: To manage all operations in accordance with running a construction site to CDM Regulations 2015, whilst ensuring operating efficiency. Responsible for ensuring that all legal obligations required by all relevant Acts or bodies are adhered to.
RELATIONSHIPS:
- Responsible to: Construction Manager
- Responsible for: Site Staff and Subcontractors
- Liaison with: Directors, Managers, Designers, Employees, Clients, Suppliers, Visitors, Building control
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Ensure that all activities at the site comply with the requirements of CDM Regulation 2015 and all other relevant legislation pertaining to the site.
- Work with all members of the Management team to continually raise the Health, Safety and Environmental standards of the Company.
- Ensure that all contractors who carry out work on the site are inducted, monitored and supervised to ensure safe working practices are adhered to.
- Ensure that all plant and equipment is maintained to a high standard and therefore safe to operate.
- Ensure that the site is maintained in a condition which creates a culture of operator ownership and responsibility, including all buildings and roads.
- Ensure that all activities, when under your control, are Risk Assessed to maintain safe operations.
- Ensure that the site is maintained in a secure state at all times, which will include:
- Reviewing the effectiveness of site security at regular intervals.
- Adequate provision of fencing/gates/barriers and maintenance of the same.
- Security of mobile plant.
- Security of fixed plant.
- Ensure that all mobile and fixed plant is left in a secure state during periods of non-operation, including the provision of keys being kept in a secure location.
THE IDEAL CANDIDATE:
- Experienced in multiple sectors: Commercial, Industrial, Education, and Residential builds.
- Enthusiastic, committed, and a fast learner with previous experience in a busy environment.
- Strong SHE leadership and excellent knowledge of SHE Legislation requirements.
- Good level of education with SMSTS, NVQ level 6, First Aid, and DBS Enhanced.
- Proven track record in closely managing and delivering profit improvements on site.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, able to project manage to a high standard.
- Ability to work with individuals across departments and liaise with external customers and contacts.
- Strong communication skills and willingness to take instruction.
- Recognised qualification to operate plant preferable but not essential.
- Health and Safety trained or working towards.
