Job Description Salesforce Platform Manager
Rate: £500 - £525 p/d inside IR35
Clearance: Active SC (essential) Location: London - 1 day/week onsite, remainder remote Duration: 6 months initially, rolling extensions
Role context
A major transformation programme within a UK central government department requires an experienced Salesforce professional to take ownership of the platform. The role sits across delivery and design authority: making sure the org is built, governed and released properly, and that solution decisions hold up against the department's security, data and architectural standards.
The client will also consider candidates from a Salesforce Platform Architect or Solutions Architect background where the design and governance experience is strong.
Responsibilities
- Own the health, roadmap and governance of the Salesforce platform across environments
- Set and enforce org strategy, release management and deployment approach (CI/CD tooling such as Gearset, Copado or equivalent)
- Act as design authority on solution decisions (data model, sharing and security model, declarative vs. code, technical debt)
- Manage the platform security model (profiles, permission sets, sharing rules, field-level security) to central government standards
- Oversee integration into surrounding systems via APIs and middleware (MuleSoft or comparable)
- Manage licence position, org limits and platform capacity
- Provide technical assurance over delivery partners and in-house build teams
- Work with product and service owners to translate business need into deliverable platform change
Essential
- Demonstrable ownership of an enterprise Salesforce platform (not solely configuration or single-project delivery)
- Strong grasp of Salesforce architecture: multi-org vs. single-org considerations, governor limits, data model design, integration patterns
- Hands-on release and environment management, including sandbox strategy and automated deployment
- Salesforce certifications, Administrator and Platform App Builder as a baseline; Application or System Architect strongly preferred
- Active SC clearance
- Able to work to UK government security and data handling requirements
