Senior Developer - Defence Programme (DV Cleared)
Location: London, 3 days per week on site
Duration: ASAP start. Contract initially till March 2027 with extensions to follow
Rate: £600 - 625 per day, Inside IR35
Clearance: Active DV mandatory
The role
A senior developer is needed to provide technical leadership on the delivery of an AI-enabled tasking and workflow platform for a Defence programme. The application is moving out of Discovery into early Alpha, so you'll be shaping the build rather than maintaining someone else's.
You'll work in a mixed team of engineers from several suppliers, alongside a dedicated AI engineering capability. The platform combines Python/FastAPI services, React and TypeScript interfaces, Camunda workflow orchestration, modular services, data persistence, and integration with existing Defence tasking processes.
Despite the AI-enabled focus of the platform, this is primarily a software engineering role.
What you'll need
- Significant experience delivering software in MOD, Defence Intelligence, National Security or comparable secure environments
- Proven experience leading agile development teams
- Strong engineering background across Python, FastAPI, REST APIs, React and TypeScript
- Experience designing and delivering microservice architectures
